The Adult Marine Science Camp Pontoon Boat Day
Join us on Sunday, July 17th, 2016, for a science geek fantasy day!
FIRST: A tour of Pasco County’s Energy and Marine Center, on Salt Spring Run, in Port Richey. Put your hand in a tank, and touch marine life! Learn about ongoing ACTUAL science AT the Marine Center! Learn what kids learn when THEY go there! Find ways to engage young people in the joy and discovery of science learning!
SECOND! We board the Miss Daisy, a 40 foot pontoon boat, for a “Feet wet” tour of Mangrove nurseries, Saltmarsh estuaries, and seagrass flats…ALL of which are critical habitat for hundreds of species that inhabit our inshore waters.
There will be a presentation about the 1994 Florida Constitutional Ban on Commercial Net Fishing in State Waters, by Greg Smithwick.
Josh McCart, a science educator from the Marine Center will be on hand to answer questions, and MAYBE help YOU identify species along the shore!
We will have a picnic lunch on Durney Key, just off the coast, among the stilt houses at the mouth of the Pithlachascotee River.
We will wind up back at Gill Dawg for a ‘wrap’ party, featuring their amazing menu and bar, and a cool shady spot to process the day.
Have Fun! Learn Stuff! Help Kids!
(Seriously, buy a ticket right now!)
