So this is how it went:
One person…One tiny, loving, social person. Gail has known me since I was 17. I was (and still AM) friends with her daughter, one of a BUNCH of kids who spent time in their lives. We all roomed together, for awhile…I surfed Gail’s couch when I had my FIRST radio job, at WLPJ, next to Leaning Tower of Pizza. That was a non-paid intern gig.
Gail was a constant friend and visitor over the next several years, as I worked from classical, to news, to big band and nostalgia radio work. Gail and I have now been friends for over 35 years.
THANKS to Monogram House for the hat!
So, when I started this project, it was no surprise that she was supportive (although, like many, sort of mystified by what I was doing) of my efforts. Early on, she started encouraging me to make contact with her friends in the motorcycle culture groups around West Pasco county. I had NO misgivings about that…Gail and her daughter Sherry have ALWAYS been part of that circle, and I was always made to feel welcome, even in places like the old 8 Ball Pub, on U.S.19, in Hudson (Which was a dance studio, for awhile!)
The point of this post: There is a TON of good work getting done in West Pasco County by groups like Florida Bikers Helping Florida Bikers and the Suncoast Brotherhood of Pasco. I have now joined BOTH groups…My thinking is it will be easier to keep track of the great work they do, and support it, if I am actually AT the meetings where they plan and organize these events.
There are a LOT of events in the podcast…Too many to link out. You can find them by searching the “Events” tab on my So Local Pasco Facebook page.
