An incredible weekend! Music! Live music, the best kind…The So Local Pasco TV Show included a singing performance in studio by Nikki Dermott, and a couple of songs performed by our friend Corey Cottrell…Great stuff!
Then we caught Wicked at the HandleBar, on Friday night…
Saturday was the night of the big gig for Freq, from Tampa…They played “The Wall”, by Pink Floyd in it’s entirety, in a bar, in Hudson. Incredible. The aforementioned Corey Cottrell, and his band Merry Bom (I am STILL not clear on “bom”, or “bomb” or whatever), opened the show, with some HOT 3 piece action. Those guys are GOOD! There’s also the matter of discovering that Corey is ANOTHER guy in town who tends to shred barefoot, wherever possible (Jeremiah Halverson is the other one). It’s kind of a thing, I guess.
After The Wall, Corey and Merry Bomb came back an wailed some more.
True fact: Like Florida swamp dwellers, kids from the arctic have webbed feet, to keep them from sinking into the tundra, when it melts into bog land each spring!
Brett, doing a credible ‘Pink’ during the performance of The Wall by his band, Freq.
Guitarist from Freq, Brent. Not to be confused with Brett or Brant.
An outstanding effort by Freq to pull of sound effects, ambient sounds, and spoken word pieces during their performance of “The Wall”.
FIRE CAME OUT HIS HEAD.
Sunday was my day for relaxing with several hundred good friends at the Suncoast Brotherhood’s 4th Annual Chili Cookoff, out at VFW 6180…HooBoy! Good stuff. I sampled NINETEEN different chilis, voted, listened to Full Throttle, and caught up with old friends.
People’s Choice AND Best Hot Chili Winner.
Great work! They told me they learned to make chili “On the internet.”
Been trying to catch these guys for WEEKS! Good show! Not many bands around with a sax player.
Ten down, and I feel FINE!
Yes, I really did sample NINETEEN entries at the chili cookoff. No, I did not require hospitalization. Only one guy was trying to hurt people with the heat.
Great day, great folks, great experience!
So many CHILIS!
It was just a wonderful time, and I am grateful to all the MANY people who helped make all that stuff happen!
In the show today, an interview with Kenny Burke from “What’s Going On Live” Music Promotion…Check it out!
