Listen…I want to get personal, for a moment. No matter what happens from here to December 1st, this adventure I’m on in 2016 (mostly) has been absolutely amazing. I keep having these ‘snapshot’ days…They are seared into my mind, etched there, as in stone. I’m REALLY lucky that I have pictures documenting what’s been happening. I’ve taken some, friends have taken others. It’s just been an extraordinary ride.
Today, for instance. If you’ve been listening, you know I’ve been giving a lot of love to Messengers of Hope Mission. Honestly, I want to do SO much more, for them. I mean…We ALL want to help the homeless…But this charity gives of themselves in a way that is so powerful. Directly, in the heat of August, in person. Literally feeding the homeless, and caring for the near homeless.
It’s brutal out there…And people need to know what is happening. Bad things are happening. Pregnant women are living out there without power or water. CHILDREN are living in cars. A lot of them. Marginalized people are being brutalized by our discomfort…Further marginalized and restricted.
But there’s good stuff, too. Today, at the West Side Deli, my little circle just appeared. They do that, on most Tuesdays, but today was exceptional. Some guests arrived…Because they wanted to meet and find out how to support Messengers of Hope Mission. So, that was the start of my amazing snapshot day:
Moments like this are the entire reason for this podcast. I want to make this happen, all the time.
Oh, and other amazing stuff happened, as well:
- My #baboonroomchallenge interview for Tuesday (Day 4 of 30) was an interview with someone who saw a ‘yeti’ on the highway. If you know me, you know what a big deal that is.
- I addressed the Board of County Commissioners in shorts. I had not intended to speak, but they opened the floor at the medical cannabis workshop, Tuesday, and I felt they needed to be re-encouraged to tour a medical cannabis dispensary, now that they’ve decided to have a second workshop in December.
- I had a nap.
- I watched an Athan Monk video that was mindblowingly original…He made it as HIS 4th day project for #baboonroomchallenge! He just CRUSHED it:
Amazing. More amazing, tomorrow, as we prep for Corey’s big interview with Nikola Danaylov about Artificial Intelligence.
A winner has been chosen! Congratulations to Pantera Bill for his winning entry into the Snug Harbor Inn overnight for two getaway! We asked people to submit photos of what they need to escape FROM. Bill’s entry was a bleak, empty bar…Photo titled “Loneliness”. Well, Bill, we hope you find the cure down in Mad Beach…We hear toes in the sand, drink in the hand is a good strategy. Here’s the photo:
Now…We’re trying some new ways of doing things. Making a HUGE clickable link post every week is killing me…Here are links (some are clickable images, some are plain text) of things going on between today and NEXT Tuesday. Thanks, Laura Sherrod Pence, for all your hard work on this!
