I’ve really been enjoying my Tuesday visits to the Westside Deli, on Little Road! Honestly…While there is a co-promotional element to it, it’s a genuinely nice way to spend a couple of hours. The folks that work there are always fun, and funny, the food is exceptional (and even HEALTHY!)…I run into people I know, and meet people I SHOULD know. It’s been great!
Today, our guest is Tom Moran, the Exalted Ruler of the New Port Richey Elks Lodge. The Elks, nationally, are one of the largest fraternal organizations in the country, claiming nearly a million members. The New Port Richey Elks Lodge, #2284, has been active in our community for decades…In Fact, Tom’s grandfather and father were members of the New Port Richey Elks Lodge!
The Lodge donates to local charities, and is active in supporting veterans and children’s groups in our community. They raise money for charity through a variety of activities, including their famously well organized Bingo Nights, which are on Sunday and Monday evenings:
Tom was really excited to tell us about the upcoming “Polish Wedding” at the Lodge…It will feature great music, and fantastic AUTHENTIC Polish food…You should check it out, if you’ve never had a traditional Polish spread! Tickets are available by calling the Elks Club at 846-8012.
Reminder that there will be a vigil held at Sims Park, tonight, to honor and remember the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre, and to show support for our own local LGBT community. I will be there, and I hope you will, as well. The vigil will be from 6:30 to 7:30, and you are advised to bring a blanket or chair.
Messengers of Hope Mission is seeking plastic storage tubs with lids, like the one shown. Used is fine, as long as they are in good condition, with working lids and no cracks:
