So Local Pasco Podcast, February 29th, 2016. Feeling the Love Edition

Feeling the love, for SURE, this week.

Lots of amazing stuff this past week…Mostly enumerated in the podcast.  I want to say a special thank you to the VFW Post 6180 Auxilliary for inviting me out to the Hogs 4 Dogs Fundraiser…I have no details, yet, but I am sure our friend Betty Gagnon will be by, later in the week, to tell us how it went.

A good time at the People Place, where Frank Starkey shared his ideas for a vibrant, vital downtown…

Dustfest…Wonderful to see my friend Jimmy Lee Brearley up on stage, playing bass with Shadowfax.  Lee was the original bass player, and is a local music scene fixture since 1979.  He has toured nationally, and played with some famous folks!  So grateful he got to play!

Sunday, downtown:  Community Garden, Bank and Main Coffee Shop, and Sims Park…GREAT day in our community!

Spent a couple of hours at the Inspire Foundation grand re-opening in Land o Lakes…

Really feeling connected to my community, these days…Thanks for helping with that, So Local Pasco people!

So Local Pasco TV Update…How To and Information Blog Post

Happy Friday, everyone!

Around here, Friday means So Local Pasco TV…Today, our 4th episode will stream LIVE at 3:30pm.

I wanted to let folks know how they can watch, in real time, or after the fact.  I made a little video about the terminology, the TECHnology, and the changing idea of what television and radio are.  So, watch THIS, and I will post some screen captures and links for you to check out afterward:

So, to recap:

A podcast is simply a recorded file (in my case a ‘show’) that you can listen to on any internet capable device…Smart TV, Smart phone, Computer, Tablet, Laptop.

“Streaming TV” is simply a TV show that comes to you the same way.

Streaming and podcasting are DELIVERY METHODS of those programs or files.  That’s it!  It simply means you are no longer tied to a particular television or radio…Wherever you have ANY of those devices, you can receive ANY podcast or streaming TV show!  This is a revolutionary idea…That the content you want is available to you wherever you go, whenever you want it.

Now, if you own a business that advertises on radio or TV, you should think about this…You may be paying to reach viewers or listeners that are no longer there.  There is a broad swath of people that are no longer watching terrestrial local TV, or listening to terrestrial radio.  Even if they ARE, they are not watching or listening on the schedule of the TV or radio station…Podcasts and streaming video are “On Demand”.

So, here are some instructions for viewing the TV show:

Go to the main page, here at www.solocalpasco.com…

So Local Pasco Podcast, February 26th, 2016. Alex Centeno in Studio Edition

So tired, so fulfilled.  Alex Centeno came by, and spent a couple of hours at the studio, Thursday.  I only used a fraction of the discussion we recorded in the podcast…I suppose this means he will have to be a feature cast, in the weeks to come.

Alex Centeno and I had a HUGE conversation about music, life, parents and ambition, today...

Pleading with me to stop talking.

Then I was off to New Port Richey with Corey Cottrell to the People Place on Main Street…This is Frank Starkey’s initiative to reopen some downtown spaces that have been lying empty for far too long.  I hope Frank will join us one day soon to discuss his plans, and his feelings about and FOR downtown New Port Richey…He is as “So Local” as it gets, and we value his view.

Mr. Starkey explaining to the lively crowd how he wants to use his "People Space" downtown, and his bigger picture take on OTHER old spaces that have fallen out of use.

A great night, nice folks, and plenty of great food and drink. Inspiring.

Perhaps my favorite thing, tonight: A hand drawn map of New Port Richey, found behind the plaster during renovations in the building downtown. Hand drawn legends single out the Sefranek residence, and the Allgood residence. Not sure when the map was drawn, but this WAS the firehouse.

That’s it for today…Enjoy your Friday, and please try to join me for So Local Pasco TV, which airs today at 3:30pm!
