Hogs 4 Dogs is the kind of event I LOVE to get behind. This event supports K9s For Warriors.
Here’s the idea:
Rescue dogs from shelters. Train them as service animals. Assign them to care for veterans with PTSD and other health issues. Here is the K9s For Warriors Mission Statement:
“K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.”
So, Betty Gagnon and her friends at VFW Post 6180 (Notice how many SERVICE events we’ve covered, out of that one little old Chapter?) have cooked up a GREAT event to support that effort. They’ve set a goal for themselves of providing funding for the training and placement of two dogs for this program.
Details are in the podcast, but it involves loud music, a pig roast, and a worthy cause, so call and sign up!
