For those of you that may have tried to listen before 10:30am, today…We had what Han Solo would call a “slight technical malfunction”, last night…I somehow uploaded a BLANK file to the web server. Never happened before. Is all fix now. Very sorry for the inconvenience! ~Greg
Today, take a bit of a detour, with me. I am going to lay out some information about podcasts that I find interesting, or entertaining. I have actually only been listening to podcasts regularly since May of 2015.
In the podcast, today, I explain my journey to discovering the medium, and how it has changed my listening time. I tried to choose casts that were pretty entertaining…But I warn you: Our tastes may differ. That’s okay! Consider this: I discovered ALL of these by just clicking on things that sounded interesting. I hit some duds, for sure! You will, as well. Don’t be shy about clicking stop, and moving on. Some casts that I thought I would LOVE were just….Meh. Director Kevin Smith’s podcast was painful…Too jocular and too rude. Not for me.
Here are the podcast links I mention in the show:
My BIGGEST discovery, this year, was Radiolab. I love these guys, so much! Great story telling, with dynamic sound, and music…This is art.
Weird, spooky, compelling and beautiful. But enough about ME, this is about “Welcome to Nightvale”, a narrative podcast, brought to you like public service announcements from a local radio station in a small town. Just stay away from the park after midnight.
Marc Maron is a brave and crazy survivor. He made his bones doing angry stand up with Bill Hicks, Dennis Leary, and Sam Kinnison. This is the show that inspires ME to do this. It is the only recommendation that I feel requires a LANGUAGE WARNING.
There will be swearing on the WTF Podcast. It’s called WTF!
Heartfelt, honest, uncommon interview shows, with great minds and talents. New podcasts usually twice a week!
Only ONE music link, this time. While I love our local scene, and will be doing much more to help it develop in the months to come, this is about pure listening pleasure. NOTHING gives me more pleasure than the Tiny Desk Concert Series, which is produced as part of All Songs Considered, produced by NPR legend Bob Boilen.
Here’s a sample! One of my favorite young acts, Sarah Jarosz, appearing on the Tiny Desk Concerts series:
That’s it! Please enjoy these, and explore further! If you have a favorite podcast, share it with us!
