Progress Update October 26th, 2015

My mother once told me that one of the WORST things you can do is to set an expectation in a new business venture…So, of course, that is EXACTLY what I am going to do!

*ahem*

WE INTEND TO GO LIVE WITH OUR FIRST PODCAST ON DECEMBER 1st, 2015!!

It’s madness. That is only THIRTY days away! Crazy talk.

When I think about it, I get a little (LOT) nervous, but I think it will be alright. Today, I nailed down usage rights for some AMAZING original music that we will use in the podcasts. I have been recording folks identifying where they are, and where WE are…As well as some promo shots. I am hard at work learning the editing routines for creating the podcasts…While I have the voice chops and writing down, it’s the OTHER million things I have going on that make it a struggle.

In the midst of ALL that, my incredibly talented mate, Anita, painted my studio room, today. Considering that we really couldn’t move any of the furniture OUT to do it, she was amazing. It is in the house, but I intend to create a really inviting space for guests and advertisers.

This is the ‘audio rig’ we will be using to produce So Local Pasco podcasts.

In the past ten days, we have added a digital audio interface (which takes the place of an internal sound card) to the studio PC, and added a compressor/limiter to reduce room sounds while recording.

I was asked, so here is the gear list:

PC is a custom built full ‘Quiet Cool’ tower, with quad AMD processors
4 gigs ram
HT Striker audio card
Win 7 Ultimate 64bit
Audacity editing
Reason 5 for music production

Outboard:

Mackie 1202 VLZ3, and 402VLZ3 mixers
Samson C03 XLR studio condenser mic
M Audio Oxygen 25 key midi controller
Alesis Autocom MDX Compressor/Limiter
M Audio Fasttrack digital audio interface
Zoom H4n Handy Recorder (digital recorder)
Mackie MR5 Near Field Audio monitors

We are still (ALWAYS!) one or two pieces of gear away from what we really want…A dynamic guest mic and stand are the FINAL missing parts.

I will be posting more often to the BLOG over the next four weeks, as we get closer to our podcast ‘air’ date…And giving tips for how to easily subscribe and listen to So Local Pasco.

If you have an idea for a podcast, or know of someone who deserves and needs our attention, do not hesitate to call! The phone number for the venture is (727)859-8537. Leave a voice mail, and we will respond as quickly as is practical.
